We aim to make this an enjoyable and informative day both for:

• Newcomers or less experienced hunters who wish to improve their knowledge and horsemanship skills on the hunting field, and,

• Experienced hunters who wish to brush up on their riding skills, practice jumping natural obstacles and hopefully learn something new.

 

Outline of the day
 

• ·Any C-19 regulations in force at the time must be adhered to throughout. There may be changes to the planned day to take account of such regulations. Further details will be published when you are notified of the timing of your ride.

•  The day will run from 0900 and should finish by 1630. Lunch and tea are included in the cost of the day. Please indicate choice of menu on the Registration Form. All timings are approximate.

• You will receive 1 ½ hrs mounted tuition with an emphasis on learning how to cope with various obstacles and incidents that could occur during a day’s hunting.

•  During lunch there will be a talk by Jenny Parsons MFH on hunting past and present including tips on how to get the best out of a day’s hunting.

•  In the afternoon, there will be two cross country rides, each led by a Field Master. These will take in a variety of obstacles but there will always be a way round, just as when hunting.

• There will be a voluntary collection for the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance during the day.

• Cost £85, Paid up subscribers of the Taunton Vale Foxhounds £70.
   

 

Timings (all timings are indicative)

1. Friday 8th October 1700- Closing date for registration and payment.

2. Monday 11th October - You will be advised of the timing of your ride (0930 or 1130) by email together with any updated C-19 provisions and requirements

3. Friday 15th October from 0900 – Assembly at Pontispool

4. 0930 or 1130 – ride - cross country tuition

1. 1300 -1400 Lunch

2. 1430- 1600 approx – Cross country ride round Pontispool in two separate groups: smaller and larger fences

3. 1630 Finish and Tea

Entrants are responsible for their own insurance, including personal accident & 3rd party liability. The organisers reserve the right to cancel the event (please see registration form) and to refuse any entry. British Standard crash helmets and body protectors must be worn at all times when mounted.
